Having trouble installing or configuring MediaPortal?
theres a plugin which does this.
backupsettings
Its in the plugin section. You install it to tvserver plugins, activate it, nominate a folder to make the backup in then press export.
when you install new version, install the plugin and direct it to back up folder then Import.
It comes with documentation in pdf format.

Actually not true. With RC4 you can use tv server or the build in tv plugin. You need to choose between TVE2 / TVE3 when installing MediaPortal.

I just upgraded today from MP version 0.2.2.3 (I think that was the version) to 1.0 RC4 and I don't see any options to add my tv...

I have now found ITV HD from an auto scan and can see the placeholder.
I think all the scanned channels are stored in the database, not a flat file so is not easy to share.
A note to the OP make sure you have in your LNB setup 28.2E Freesat selected not 28.2E Astra as this was my mistake in not finding ITV...

1) Under Vista MP is still using DirectX9 (ex), so no DX10 is not used under Vista. DX9 and DX10 are both co-existing in Vista.

I'm delighted to say that althought this problem exhibited itself RC3 (and RC3 SVNs), it finally works fine in RC4:-)
So it seems something in MP software was the cause all along.
BTW, RC4 has been the MOST RELIABLE version I have seen to date - well done guys and gals!!
