It is almost fixed.
The stretch/normal/etc text is now indeed shown infront of the Pause OSD, but the small white text is still unreadable.
So a background on the stretch/normal/etc text would fix that.
Or darken the Pause OSD text the moment another function like aspec-ratio change is used.

Some videos break the aspect ratio of the output resolution to TV (even the MePo GUI changes aspect ratio)

I had to set it to "Maintain display scaling". I think it was set to "Maintain Aspect Ratio", which added black bars to MediaPortal when playing videos that didn't conform to a strict 16:9 ratio, I suppose.

Actually I solved this myself. I did have the correct driver (it was the only one which would work). But on the drivers download page, there was an additional item called "TBS6281se V2 Change Mode Tool". There was zero documentation to accompany this. I downloaded it and ran it. It is a tool to detect the current run state of both...
