One of the changes to MediaPortal that I don't like is the way the album covers (in MY Music Big Icons view) are displayed in "half brightness" until an album is selcted, then it goes to normal brightness - but all the others stay dim. I understand that this is a "feature" of MediaPortal and not the skin itself?

However, I have noticed that in the "Razor" skin, all the album covers are dispalyed in full brightness, and the selected one is highlighted by its boarder and a slight zoom larger. Is it possible to do this in BlueTwo 1280x720 - and could you give me some clues as to what I need to change to have all the icons displayed at full brightness, rather than just the selected one?

Taipan - Don't take this the wrong way, but shouldn't you be asking your question to Raven? He developed the Razor skin that has the propeties you like after all. I think when he shares his knowledge then you could create a modified BlueTwo Music skin.

You could ask Raven...he may not know off the top of his head either....the difference in the behavior may just be a result of what version of a default mp skin a skinner starts with. He may not have conciously made the change, it might have been made by the mp design team skinners and he went with it. But it wouldn't hurt to ask.

I don't remember, but i think i did the skins almost a year ago. to be completely up front, with each new release of mp i don't compare my xml line by line to the regular bluetwo skin for every file. Part of the reason is time, part of the reason is that the way i've used references.xml and templates has diverged a fair way from the regular skins. I check to see which files in the regular bluetwo skin have a new timestamp and see if i can figure out what that change is, and if it doesn't make an obvious difference or causing a bug, i may not catch it. So if a single tag is thrown in there that makes a subtle difference, it may not get changed.

And that's what it probably is, a tag or two i need to change in references.xml.

One thing i would love to be able to do, but don't have the time or knowledge to do, is to create an installer package for the skin. Give the user some choices: how many lines in the tvguide, icons in listcontrols or no icons, stuff like that. I don't know if Taipan's suggestion is something i could make configurable, but I know there are plenty of things that are.

Anyway, I will ask Raven if he has done something different to get this effect, to see if we can introduce it to this skin, too.

I've never used the skin, but you may be looking at something i found out early on when skinning....last time i checked, if you have more columns than rows in a icon view, not all the columns are selectable. In other words, if you have 3 rows and 5 colums, the 4th and 5 column won't work.

as far as an installer, the work would be the initial configuration. after that it would be an extra xml file to update once in a while.

About automation and options we need to look that closer, after we get proper MSI cooked up.

For anybody who wants to do some error checking...i've tenatively posted a version for RC3...its not quite done, but it is usable with the new release. The final release for the skin will have a few new features that i'm getting some help with that are not included yet. Some of the changes that are done:

Implementation of Harley's basichome screen (hope you don't mind Harely....)
Updated mymusic (changed left navigation menus, added nowPlaying screen)
fixed a few remote/keyboard navigation issuse...please if you find pages that don't work well in this regard, let me know, its an ongoing process
Updated Settings Wizard
And probably a few other things i can't recall right off the top of my head

and the best news is that when we're done, the new version will be posted to the team-mediaportal site...no more slow server. Please let me know of any errors that you find, looking to make this the best release yet.
