Is there anyway that I can make the usbuirt slow down on it's button pressing?

The key press for a 2 digit channel has no real gap between the commands, and my cable box seems to have issues picking these up.

Not sure which version of MP you're using, but assuming it's RC 0.20 (or a more recent CVS build) you can control the delay between commands as follows:

Launch Configuration.exe and select Remote-->USBUIRT and adjust the "Inter command delay ms" value.
