Well, sadly, it's a no go... But that doesn't mean your fix is wrong!

I get a wrong version error (See attachment)

My Guess is that, internally, MP 1.2.0 RC doesn't have 1.2.0.0 version but 1.1.8.0, but you compiled using the latest version currently being tested for the final release of MP 1.2.0 ...

Am I correct?

2nd Question : If this indeed fixes the problem, the patch will be pushed back to the next version after 1.2.0 right?

3rd Question : If I understand correctly, you simply tried to catch the error so the program won't crash, right? What's failing exactly? I mean... If it's a codec not loading correctly or something else like that, it prevent MP to use it also? I mean, I should really try to find which one si badly installed and fix it so MP won't have to revert to a second-class codec? (My guess is that I'm totally off the track here :p)

    You're exactly correct. I had to upgrade my installation from a pre-1.2.0rc state to test the patch, and it clean slipped my mind that we've upgraded the version number in the last day or so. Try the attached one... :sorry:
    Note: the previous one may still be useful if you decide to upgrade to 1.2.0 final when it is released (hopefully within the next 5 days).

    2nd Question : If this indeed fixes the problem, the patch will be pushed back to the next version after 1.2.0 right?
    Yes. We plan a follow up release to 1.2.0 in roughly two weeks time, but it may take a bit longer than that. I'd hope that we can get the fix in there.

    3rd Question : If I understand correctly, you simply tried to catch the error so the program won't crash, right? What's failing exactly? I mean... I don't think you're too far off track. What is failing is MP is assuming that your system registry is reliable, correct, and complete - usually a safe assumption, but obviously not always true. If you're experiencing the same problem that I was able to reproduce then it is caused by attempting to add codecs with no names to the lists of codecs that you can choose from in the "codecs and renderer" section of MP configuration. At this point I'm not entirely sure how you end up having codecs with no names registered in your system, but the last thing we want is people's first impression of MP to be that it crashes at the drop of a hat. Regardless of whether it is a code problem on our side or a registry problem on their side, we want our software to be robust and reliable. Yes, you should fix this (use filmerit as hoborg suggested) because you won't be able to use those codecs without repairing the registry, but we should also handle this too.

    Let me know how you get on with the attached exe...

    Sadly, It didn't work...

    I still get the same crash at the same place as before...
    I had a look at "Configuration.log", and it's identical as the first one I posted on this thread!...

    Damn... This is sooo frustrating when you know it was working fine a few days ago, but after installing SAF and StreamedMP, something broke somewhere that can't be figured out easily!

    It's very late now, I'll take a really good look at my codecs tomorrow.

    On your side, any other ideas? In any case, thanks for having tried! :D

    Did you tryed the filmerit?

    Just did! And it fixed it :eek: It was all related to the DirectShow filters. I kept the log before making a "Repair All" if you're intersted!

    However, There's still one, called WMVideo decoders that Filmerit can't fix (perhaps because it is somehow in use, I don't know)...
    It says 1 error among 46 filters.... It's problem : No clsid and No Server File...

    Luckily, I don't have too many Windows Media Videos :p

    From what I understand, Filmerit when doing a repair will have deleted a lot of filters, some of which I might need! Any suggestion on what I should do next? Try installing SAF again?

    :D

    Edit : I just tried launching the Configuration.exe for now... Will get back tomorrow for a more detailed feedback since it's 3 am now!

    Too bad.
    You should export log from filmerit first, so we can look what is wrong.
    But now it will be not possible.

    :D for the log

    There are a *lot* of errors in there - by the looks, mostly "no filterdata" errors. I tried renaming "FilterData" to "FilterData2" but no crash caused. I'll keep reading...

    [Edit: looks to me like this one was the problem...

    ...
    DirectShow Filter = No name
    #Error F02 - No CLSID
    #Error F03 - No friendlyname
    Filter Type = DirectShow
    Category = DirectShow Filters
    Type = Default
    ID = {083863F1-70DE-11d0-BD40-00A0C911CE86}
    CLSID = {083863F1-70DE-11d0-BD40-00A0C911CE86}
    Merit = 00600000
    Server File =
    #Error S02 - No InprocServer32
    CLSID =
    ...

    Would you agree hoborg?

    All errors (except one) are connected to your sound output, looks like i was completelly broken, strange.

    Here is one filter without FriendlyName:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{DA4E3DA0-D07D-11d0-BD50-00A0C911CE86}\Instance\{083863F1-70DE-11d0-BD40-00A0C911CE86}

    In my registry "FriendlyName" is set to "DirectShow Filters". I tryed to rename it, but MePo config still working.

    But this is not standard audio/video filter, my SAF didnt touch this key...

    BTW, if i open Fimerit here on my Win7x64, there is 0 errors reported :)

    I note the 3 errors:

    #Error F02 - No CLSID
    #Error F03 - No friendlyname
    #Error S02 - No InprocServer32

    Assuming I fixed the friendlyname one properly and the CLSID one doesn't cause a crash then it must be the inprocserver32 one. How do I break that? :D

    [Edit: nothing I do causes a crash with my patched exe... :confused:]

    Oh no. That's not good news. It looks like this is going to be complicated. OnlineVideos won't let us record, so that isn't going to work on this occasion, but I do like the information you have given on Online Videos because I have tried and failed to understand the wiki on that. I will remember this for future use. In the meantime...

    Thanks for explaining. I found a passing reference to this here: https://www.team-mediaportal.com/wiki/display/MediaPortal1/HID%20Profiles which I had overlooked in the past. I would find it logical for a created custom profile to be automatically activated, but until that happens, I will try to create a wiki page for the current...

    Ran into this problem following an otherwise sucessful upgrade from MP 1.34 x64 to MP 1.35 x64 the CEC Remote plugin which I use just to control volume and standby, will no longer put my devices (TV & AVR) to sleep when the HTPC is put in standby. Also when I wake up the HTPC MP closes or crashes (not sure which) as per the example in...
