As I have mentioned on this thread before, I haven't started any work on MDAPI, because A) Argawal hasn't gotten back to me with any source code at all, B) I have been working on other things (TTPremium support and MPSA filter re-write). So anyone that wants to take this on, please feel free to do so. If you look google around, you can find the MultiDec source code, which is the original implementor/inventor of the MDAPI. Digging into the code for MultiDec should yield the information anyone needs in order to make a MDAPI interface and/or plugin wrapper for MP.

    Just to clear up things:

My filters aren't *fake*, DMAN could vouch for it (altough it never really did work well for him while beta testing). However, it's not working 100% great either, as MP wasn't made with the idea of working with software decoded streams. It CAN work, as I sucessfully used MP with my filters for several days.

I don't think I'll be giving away to source code, either, as the particulartity of the filters is that they can work with any software supporting DirectShow (ie, any windows audio/video app), not just MP.

My main problem currently is time. I don't have much free time these days. Add that to the fact that there's a lot of things I don't like about MP's TV module (like, WHY does MP even has a "My TV" screen? It's useless. Go straight to fullscreen TV, and the only way to choose channels should be through the programs guide) which make me delay even more work on the filters.

Since I was kinda frustrated with the way MP handles things, I started working on a little software which would only do TV. You see, the most important use, for me, for a PVR software is TV. Get TV working right, then work on the rest. I don't feel the TV part of MP (the DVB part, I don't tried nor need Analog input card) is up to par... or was 1-2 months ago.

Last time I tried integrating support for my filters into MP, it was with RC2 IIRC. It didn't work very well. I'll try to make some test with the latest MP and see what it gives. Expect to have news in ~10 days.

I have talked with _Frodo_ about the possibility of me re-writing the analyzer filter set so that it models the new Directshow (only available for Media Center rollup 2). This would include parsing and notification of EMM and ECM packets. Just an FYI, this is next on my list and may actually have to happen in order to get TechnoTrend Premium support (my current project) fully working in MP anyway.

What is the EMM necessary for?

Necessary to fully support software decoding, among things ;) It's one of the "problems" I ran into, as well as the fact that the channel scanner doesn't keep the ECM pid in the database. I had to enter them all manually in order to decrypt channels.

I thought that necessary for decoding ist the PMT (Ok this works with CAM-Modules).

I didnt know that MP can support Software-Encrypting (and where is the Smartcard??)

Where are the EMM Info hidden (for PMT you need first the PAT (without saved PIDs).

EMM is mainly needed for keys/card update. It is found through the PMT.

You clearly didn't read the present thread. MP does NOT, by itself, support software-decoding of encrypted channels in any way.

    That's just a skinning issue :)

    no it isn't....
alot of code is in the windows plugin to retrieve channels and such in the tvhome window. It just would not work to skip this window without re coding the window plugin. Not to hard to do but still, not a skinning issue

    I (almost) agree.

My TV should just be a full screen TV and whoever wants something different (like teletext or programming) should just do it through the context menu. Like a real TV.

Many thanks for the answer. So far I've used Logitech's Harmony hub. This allows you to control all components (including the media portal). I have now contacted the Sofabaton hotline. It should also work here like with the Harmony. Unfortunately, not all of the IR codes are correct. You can also learn commands here. But that doesn't...

According to Wikipedia, Windows only uses code pages other than UTF-8 to support legacy (mostly 32 bit) applications and supports two code pages in addition to UTF-8 (OEM and ANSI). According to Microsoft, UTF-8 has been the preferred character set since 2019. If TV Server (or its import routine) were using UTF-8, then umlauts...
