Like Paranoid Delusion said, you'll need to either change skins or copy the TVSeries.xml from another skin. This, for example, is the Indigo one. Just put this in Mediaportal\skin\BlueTwo (or Bluetwo wide, depending on your TV) and it should work for you. You can use the TVSeries.xml from any other skin, though.
I had the same problem, TVSeries.xml was missing for the default skin blue two after a clean install or RC1 and MP-TVSeries v2.0. Because I still use a 4:3 TV other skins like monochrome were no use for me. I got the missing file here:

I was just tinkering with a few settings in the MediaPortal configuration and am happy to have found the cause of the problem.
Disabling the option "Single seat setup: force RTSP usage" under "TV/Radio", "Advanced Options" resolved the issue.

Thank you so much for your help and advice, CyberSimian. I hadn't thought of deleting the various folders, but I'll bear that in mind for any future disasters. Now I can record King & Conqueror on Sunday!

I've been running MediaPortal on my PC for several years, but the most recent update "MediaPortal 1.38 Release " does...
So not 100% sure if this is a MyTVSeries or FanArt issue, but the episode thumbnails always revert to the series default after restart.

TV Server plugins are listed on this page, and "EPG Cleaner" can be downloaded from this page.
Note: I don't know what bitness the plugin has. It might be 32-bit, or it might be "any cpu". The plugin is not listed by the "MP Extensions" tool, so I don't know whether it has been tested with the most-recent MP releases.
