The two recording formats available
Transport Stream (which I assume is the native off-air format?)
MPEG

Which is the better, or recommended to use?

Use ts, mpeg will not work for a lot of people (dvb owners mainly) and ends up with 0 bytes recordings, have not a clue why, but something is getting stripped out of the file that should not be.

I'm in Oz and I have issues recording HD in MPG format but not in TS format (sometimes I get no recording at all, other times I get picture but no sound).

SD channels record correctly in either format.

    - I stick with recording in TS format.

Both formats work fine here, I use MPEG however as I couldn't seem to fast fwd / rewind on TS files.

I am loosing the audio when cutting commercials out of recorded TV with the ts format..
Tried HDTVtoMPEG2 to convert the ts files to mpeg but have bad sync problems..
Tried changing .ts to .mpeg and cutting commercials with MP video editor and no audio..
The .ts files play fine but it sure would be nice to be able to cut the commercials put of recorded TV..

I compliment you on the thoroughness of your investigations. (y) Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas what the problem might be. :( Perhaps someone else will post with some suggestions. -- from CyberSimian in the UK

There is a conflict as you have said between WinTV ad MP TV. MP TV takes over the Hauppauge HVR-1265 card. I may be even getting more channels with it. The Titan TV worked great until last year. Now it will not run the scheduler. WinTV scheduler will let me program manually but I have to set a program for each day. If I try to set...

Sorry, it's my fault -- I did not notice that you are using MP2. :( MP1 has a separate configuration utility, similar to "TV Server Config". I have tried MP2 only a couple of times, and have never used it seriously. I don't know what MP2 supports with regard to adjusting audio delay, but I do know that all of the adjustments of...
