MPEG-2 SD should not be problem for ION.
Just install SAF5 and use FFDShow for MPEG-2 liveTV. You should have HW deinterlacing by default.
You can try it by opening any MPEG-2 *.MPG or *.TS in graphstudio (here is good interlaced sample to test).
No need to install anything else, just make sure FFDshow is realy in use.

I will give that a try. HTPC-Info isn't necessary, but EPG-Grabbing is a must in my opinion.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out, but I don't think its the cause of all the dropped frames. So the question remains, whats the difference between evr and vmr9, and why does vmr9 act so much better than the recommened evr? And is there somewhere I can learn about the shift+1 graph and what it means?

I changed to Standby S3 and now my TVcard works after resuming, but i have to test it few days if it really operates.
About the Sound Problem:
I recherched that, there could be a Problem at the HDMI Handshake, for instance when the PC starts befor the TV, or a driver conflikt between ati and realtek.

After I have upgraded my soundcard to a Asus D2x, and I uses the optical out, I have a small issue with the Sound Effects in MP...
I had to deal with this as well. Simple solution: just typed the channel number *without* the 'S' and the frequency in their respective boxes and it worked for me ....

Just a like to share a tip that might help someone with a problem that is not a TVService bug per se, but does affect many services...
1. as for your hd tv channels...if they use mpeg2 use the Win 7 DTV Video Decoder and MPC - MPA audio decoder..the 1st comes with Win7 and the 2nd comes from MP itself(inbuilt)
if your HDTV uses h264..try CoreAVC 2.0..its like the best codec out there for h264/x264...otherwise u could try ffdshow tryouts(just google it)
