It does look like it is related to AudioScrobbler not able to connect to their server. Probably when MP is updating information upon your played tracks. I believe the craches is due to temporary failure at last.fm although AudioScrobbler should take care of webexceptions.

OK! I have been getting some progress in this.
The problem is the audio track.
I extracted the MKV file and put it back together without the audiotrack.
Now it plays fine but without audio offcourse.
So mediaportal uses other audiosettings in ffdshow then wmp...

Thanks a lot for the workaround. Yes, it works. :) The downside is that mediaportal has to be on focus. Oh well, mediaportal is always on the top. I submit the issue to moving pictures plugin team. Hopefully they consider it as a bug and fix it in future releases.
