Um... then maybe isn't as important as I thinked... at my city only 6-8 channels arrive by analog signal, and 25+ for digital, and some of the analog channels can be turned at dvb system aswell... maybe is not necesary the +30€ inversion on the hardware encoder... I must think about it... Thanks for help.

the USB tuners don't re-initialise quick enough for MP when coming back on from standy/hibernate. this means that you would need to close MP and then re-open it again for the tuner cards to kick in again.

I've just started to use the TV functionality in MP. Bit of a beast to get going with EPG, set top cable box, freeview stick etc! My main gripe is my Freecom USB DVB-T stick. Changing channels takes an age. Sometimes so long my machine looks like it has hung. I see that Hauppage Nova-T USB boxes (I'd prefer a box to a stick I...

Hi Folks, Quick question(s). I currently have a LifeView DVB-T Duo which has DVB-T and Analogue tuners. The digital tuner works perfectly within Mediaportal. It can, alledgedly, take the input from an analogue source (i.e. my Sky TV receiver) but I have never managed to get it working reliably within Mediaportal. Does anyone...

For my parents, I'd like to create a HTPC system. They have some space on the place where the videorecorder sits now, which is about 41cm in width and 50cm in length. Furthermore, the HTPC needs to connect to a decoder and needs a wireless lan card to connect to the internet. My question is: what case should I buy? Most mATX cases...

I'm don't know that particular motherboard firsthand, but what i noticed on the picture is that the power connecter (20 or 24pin, cant tell) may be hard to reach depending on your CPU fan (I havent seen that one). I had an issue where the cable just *barely* cleared a Zalman fan to reach the power connector. My layout is very similar...

There is absolutely no chance you'll play 720p Xvid on that chip, probably not any HD at all. Your best HD chance is a post 6600 Geforce card and CoreAVC/NVIDIA Pure Video. They'll both use the GPU to decode and hence might make up the processing shortfall

As always, half the reason for a new project is for the learning curve :) And I'd always rather do something with an opensource project like MP, especially when it appears to be a far superior product to MCE. One suggestion http://www.lifeview.com.tw/html/products/external_tv/tv_walker_dvbt_hybrid_lite.htm This is a update of the Duo which is on the supported list, but things change, especially monikers (card ID for MediaPortal to recognise it) so may need to be added. Also with Analogue usb cards, you need a good processor to do...

My plan for the HTPC is to be able to wirelessly send movies/tv shows that I download to the HTPC and then walk downstairs and watch them on my tv. ROM emulation would be a plus as well.
