Thanks for all answers! I think I will go for a SSD, also to speed-up system tweaking with all the rebooting and drive-imaging :) A new HDD for storage will also be included. The CPU and GPU change will be postponed, what I have i working and I don't want to risk problems right now. Now, time to decide on a TV card for...

the age of the PSU may or may not have an affect. i've had some PSU's go for years and years, and others die fairly quickly. The way I see it, you've got 4 pretty likely possibilities in no particular order. PSU, RAM, heat, or one of the new components is bad. To see if its heat related, can you check the temps somehow? At a...

Thanx for the reply guys, I have nearly made my mind up on this, looks like if I go for the antec fusion, I am going to have to change my mbd to an Intel d965OT. Still abit dubious about going to a smaller case but we will see.

When using Newegg, its always best to select Fedex for shipping, UPS pretty much sucks. Anyway the bits are all together, see sig, after some probs with the onboard sound which i remedied by disabling it and using a soundblaster audigy, I must say I am quite impressed with the result. Menus are snappier, less waiting around for...

Hallo Patrik-See, Windows can handle different resulutions on the Screens, Of course the Setup is in "extended Mode" so the small Touchscreen is the Main screen and the TV is the extended Screen. Typically I use the the HTPC to listen to Music or Radio, therefore i use the "old" Winamp. The winamp can be easily started and...

Hello all, Just something I wanted to share. Yesterday I have finished the single seat installation of MP-1.1.0. It took me a couple of ours but I am very pleased with the result. Since a long time I can use WebEPG again! This was the only shortcoming I encountered with the previous version I was running (1.0 RC4). Now I could spare...

Hi all, I just wanted to report that I got a new freeview (dvb-t) aerial fitted with digital grade cable and now everything is spot on :) Seems although I have a good strong signal from the transmitter, the old aerial wasnt very good at splitting the digital signal from the analogue signal which resulted in low signal quality. Now...

Thin client Im looking for the same kind of solution. And started to look at something like the PopCorn Hour to stream TV-signal to with UPnP. But it doesn't seem to be working with MP1, you just have to wait for MP2 to implement TV-Server and UPnP. /Magnus

It basicly depends on the quality of the ad converters of the vga port. I have 26" LCD tv and I didn't see any difference in picture quality. There is only one thing I'm considering, as I live in 50Hz europe, the vga input can be switched to 75Hz which is a multiple of 50Hz. Which should give better sync between picture and sound...

I will give my spec later when I'm at home. I know what you mean graemef, but I was hoping the TV card would work without having to be the exclusive use for the PC. It is a very recent installation, and I do keep my installed programs minimised. Just the one game I am playing at the moment, office, one video editing software...

very nice. I was wondering about the case though - Its hard to tell from the pictures, but the drive trays seem to have 3 light pipes for the drive status (power, activity, and failure I supose) does the backplane have 3 LEDS to support this? From your pictures it looks like there is only 1 blue one. I am wondering if I added a...

you can easily get RF modulators from many electronics shops. They only cost about $10 each but you do need to wire them up. Even if you're a novice with a soldering iron it's pretty easy. Just make sure to get a UHF modulator, so you can just feed it in with the rest of the signals. I've posted a few times about this before in...

I'm just tired of my SA 8300HD from Cox. So, maybe I can build something better. I just picked up a sweet MB the GA-MA78GM-S2HP. I tossed in an older AMD 64 FX-62 Dual Core. I also tossed in 1GB of older 800 DDR2 ram. It then got 500GB of SATA 3.0 disk and 2 128GB Raptor drives which are in a RAID. Yes, its overkill...but in a good...
