I'am not 100% sure about MP on MCE, but as I can remember there are some issues with the MCE internal windows tv service. I think this service has to be stopped because it locks the tv card. Did you stop this service already? There are several posts in this forum how to handle this.

Thanks for the reply paranoid, we're both getting audio through fine though and if I go back while playing a music video I can see the small preview video in the bottom left of my screen aswell, fullscreen is just black. Wouldn't seem like a firewall issue, nevertheless I tried disabling it didn't resolve the issue.

I guess so. The EVR and VMR9 settings are applied to the whole Mediaportal. MP can use these two for video rendering, not the old overlay mixer. No matter of the Video source is a TV.-card, harddrive or DVD. Just click the EVR checkbox in configuration.

If you use the database you have solved your problem.. just look up all your movies with imdb info and switch view to genre or title; all movies get sorted by genre/name and appears in one list.

I've also experienced some problems with my AMD x2 (stuttering DVB-C) even with the latest dual-core optimizer and AMD drivers. Simple fix is to download RunFirst.exe and modify the shortcut so that RunFirst executes MediaPortal. This way affinity is automatically set to CPU 1 on startup.

Kind of an old thread to bump but thought i would thank Freakin for the suggestion to go into the Haali settings and set vsfilter to autoload... 'yes'.
I was having the exact same problem where some files would play in MP and others wouldn't -- all files would play in WMP.

This wasn't due to FFDSHOW it was due to you messing with the settings. Each decoder can be configured to 'SPDIF' instead of 'libavcodec' in the codecs list, and so long as you don't mess with anything in the 'Output' settings, all will be just fine.
