Found a few issues with Anime - Migue reported in IRC - so I enabled Big Covers properly, as well as wide fanart layouts for 16x9 screens. I also fixed up the characters window as I really did not understand what images should display when ;) There is really no room to display four images on 4x3 with 18pt font, so I alternated the main character image and the related/other character images based on which list is in focus. Let me know if that works for you.

    Changes are in SVN.

    cool!...

I've almost got my mod done. It uses the default 4:3 15pt font version. The theme uses the background from Maya for various overlays as well. I've redone basic home to give a side-by-side menu arrangement (sub-menus right justified adjacent to the main menu, ala Maya) I don't know enough about how you do all the variations, so it is a one off, without all the choices given by the aMPed editors.

    Hey Bas:

You gave me an idea when you told me you use 4x3 screen size version of aMPed on widescreen so that mouse and touchscreen will work. I cleaned up a lot of the images, especially on Vintage Basic Home screens, so they won't distort on widescreen - looks a bit better. I cannot fix buttons, but I may have an idea for a workaround. We'll see. Please let me know if it is any improvement for you. If so, let me know if you find any other images that are distorted and I will fix what I can.

BTW what is the actual screen size of your touch screen?

@ Chuck - nice - looking forward to seeing your mod! Yeah, Editor would have to be totally rewritten, but we plan to do that anyways so this may be a good starting point.

EDIT: Gonna try and skin Pandora Music Box blind tomorrow - with help from Lyfesaver, since I cannot use it here.

But if there are no reports of any further issues, I will post installer on Google Code soon.

    Hi,
I also use 4:3 (as 16:9 is not working with a touchscreen) together with 15pt. The basic home screen I use too. So basically the same as Chuck.

    Best regards!

Sorry by screen size I meant the dimensions. Chuck has modified revaMPed basic home layout I believe. I think you said your were using Vintage layout? With the big buttons you can move around?

    Hi Dadeo,

we posted at the same time....
My touchscreen is 10" with (I thought) 1024x600 (or 1080/720).
Next to this touchscreen is my television 16:9. When I listen music, my remote switches the tv off and the touchscreen on and visa versa.

And this seems to be a very good improvement!

FOr the dimensions, you mean pixels? like 1024x600?

    Best regards,
    Bas

Sorry, I am wrong with the touchscreen size.

    Specification:
    Panel Size: 8" TFT LCD
    Resolution: 800 x 480, input up to 1,920 x 1,080 pixels
    Input Signal: PC(VGA), AV1, AV2, HDMI, DVI
    Size(LWD): 211×136×31mm

Ah so with only 10" you won't notice distortion much but you will on TV.

So aMPed displays on both touch screen and TV right? And you use 4x3 for both screens? If so, here is what I tried:
    1. Select 4x3 screensize so your touch screen will work correctly
    2. Select List Layouts = Wide Fanart so it does not distort on your TV

It is not perfect, and I think I can improve it some more, but let me know how that works for you, if it is worth trying to improve it any more or not.

    Hi Dadeo,

    You mean Revamped?
I have tried this one now and it works ok (just a quick test)
I liked the basic home as it has the big buttons, but it is a good workaround!
By the way, what is the difference between classic home and Vintage? (or can I find any documentation about it?)

Thanks for all the good work!

    Best regards!

    Hi Dadeo,

I tested a little bit more with the Revamped. basically, it's the home screen which is different. The watch menu etc. will be the same as in classic home (big buttons)
The disadvantage of the list home screen is the need of arrows.
You can work with a mouse, but with your finger it is a little bit more complicated.
I use the topbar very often to navigate, but this does not have the arrows in it.
Besides this, it is a very good workaround for a touchsceen.

By the way, is there a possibility to ad buttons to the topbar? Like the arrow and enter keys and (off course) the volume up and down? I mean, is this part of the skin or is this the topbar itself which has to be changed?

I did some more testing with revamped. Now I understand how it works with the menu etc. You can choose a menu (like watch menu or music menu) and get the big buttons like in classic home.
Or you can create the menu yourself and have the list format.
The good thing about the list format is the availability of the backdrops what makes it look better.
The bad thing is, you really need arrows. When you create your own menu, you have to navigate with the arrows. Just pointing the button and use enter is not working.

I like especially the backdrops in the list menu. That makes it more beautiful to me. Do you know any workaround for the touch screen with the list menu (as you need the arrows)?
If someone knows how to ad arrows to the topbar, I highly appreciate this!

Or is it possible to have the backdrops available in the standard "big" button menus?

    Have a nice evening!!
    Bas

    Hi Bas
Actually the changes I made were to Vintage Basic Home not revaMPed. Vintage is the same as Classiic, just renamed because now when you select Home screen options in MP 1.2.0 it calls the standard MyHome window "Classic" so confusing for new aMPed Users. Yes the differences are documented in the aMPed Wiki. Especially on the Basic Home Editor page.

Yeah the arrow keys for sub menus in reaMPed don't work for mouse/touch screen. Even users with remotes have trouble - I had to write a wiki page on Using revaMPed - that is not a good sign LOL! That is one of the reasons I plan to change it, much like Chuck has done. Most skins only provide one level of sub menus so you don't get that issue, but they also do not deal with the limitations of 4x3 screens and none of those menu styles would offer many options on a 4x3 screen with 18pt font. But we will figure out a way!

Well if you did not notice anything in Vintage Basic Home, then I guess my changes did not make much of a difference LOL

EDIT: Yes I can investigate topbar - but as I said before, please tell me a skin that has the volume control they way you like. That's easier than trying diff options over and over. About the 'arrow' buttons - yeah they are easy to add, but what do you expect them to do? In MP the arrow keys do something different depending where you are on the screen.

About the backdrops in the BIG BUTTON sub menus - yes it is possible to add them, but usually users have so many buttons filling the screen you would not see any of the backdrop? So that's why we never enabled them there.

I hope there will be a way to keep the look of the menu's of the existing revaMPed skin, i like it the way it is.

yes that is indeed what I did in that ticket. It may already be working without updating those plugins because most of it was not relevant to the plugin itself (test, some leftover unused parts etc).
