when files are located on a removable media, manually assign a number to the movie, after that Moving Pictures will tell you which one you need when you try to play the movie.

Yes, in 0.7 it will be possible to use a catalognr. We have called it medialabel and it will be autofilled using the volumelabel of the disc. From the manager you can edit it to anything you want. When you request to play the file that is offline it will prompt you to insert it and show you this label.
