Thanks for your reply, I had adjusted the video memory to 256 this morning and it has had no effect.
It has just crashed again and here is the updated log after restarting the computer, hopefully this should show something.
I really hope its not related to ffdshow.

Depends if you are talking teletext based ot bitmap DVB subtitles. For bitmap subtitles we cannot do anything, but for teletext based subtitles it would be possible to do such things, but MP is not currently supporting any of those.

After some remarks on one of my other threaths I de-installed FFDSHOW and rolled back one version of the ATI driver .
You also commented that FFDSHOW was not the common used codec as I recal it?

Try looking at the ATi HD4350, HD4550 and nVidia 9500GT - you should be able to find cards with HDMI output built-in, otherwise use an DVI->HDMI adaptor (it's better to use the specific ATi adaptor with the 4350/4550, for nVidia any adaptor will do).

I recently reinstalled media portal to update it to the latest version, I set everything up the same but my hauppauge 45 button...
Now it's working (i'm using DirectVobSub):
MP configuration -> Movie Post Processing -> DirectVobSub (auto-loading version)
Filter properties -> General:
Vertical padding, have to be set to: Original height
Loading, have to be set to: Always load
If not, my MP will play mvk and xvid files...!
