If you can remember what IP your server was when using your old router set your server to that IP by static IP on the server. I made the changes you suggested aside from software decoding and have certainly seen an improvement in the fluidity of FFWD though without thorough testing I have seen one more instance of freezing. Definitely an improvement though.
