start setup, goto television -> capture cards -> click add (which fails because it doesn't get recognised) -> close setup. Next, attach the mediaportal.log (or configuration.log if you're using an SVN snapshot) to this thread so we can take a look.

It's better to use MediaPortal Pastebin for logs & link back here.

Im using the below mentioned DVB-S cards. These are two Skystar 2 cards with the latest driver. The Skystar tools and DVBViewer detect both cards and allow to tune them individually. They're listed as two network devices in the hardware manager. However in MP I only see one card.

This is because MediaPortal uses VMR9 which has a different colour scale to Overlay. PowerDVD is probably set to Overlay.
You can test this too in WMP10 via ticking the boxes for “Use video mixing renderer” and “use high quality mode” in Tools -> Options -> Performance, then the video (DivX, Xvid, DVD, etc.) is noticeably brighter...
