Id probably guess in that case WMP is using a bad codec. MP will always use the mpeg2 codec you specify whereas WMP uses merits.

You could try to install the patch into your MediaPortal folder.
If you know how to use SVN-Patches you can also try the latest one.
Hibernating changes are in since 10.07.2006.

It doesnt need one. Typically hardware cards dont need this as its fed through the pci bus by the onboard encoder.

Just try to apply it on top of the old one, but make a backup first, in case something goes wrong, then run start.bat in mediaportal root folder & test with running MP Setup first & check that your configuration it's fine & try MP.

Thanks for your answer, but this is not a solution for me: My HTPC runs all the time but the setopbox is only used when watching tv or recording something.
The problem is not so much the watching of live-tv but the recording: Sometimes I forget to switch on the Setopbox and only record a black screen for some hours.
