i just started all over again with a fresh install of XPpro and ditched MCE 2005 alltogether
so far i am much impressed with mediaportal it can do everything that MCE can do and everything MCE CANT DO!

I now tried uninstall MP 0.2.3.0 then install MP 0.2.2.0 and then again 0.2.3.0. Uninstalling 0.2.2.0 and reinstalling 02.3.0. And now it is working!!!!!!!
So this is a fix for me for now - but there seems to be some problem in MP 0.2.3.0 when installing a brand new installation.
