Some people have suggested using Girder with the DTV2000 plugin to control mediaportal.. Google for these.
I had a bit of a fiddle with this but didn't work real well for me. Was thinking I would just buy a media center remote and get functionality straight out of the box (hopefully)

Does conversion of mpeg files to divx ones take long? (ie: More than 5 mins?). I once tried an external editor and it took almost 2 hours for a file which lasted 1 hour. Is there a way I can connect a cable box to my computer for use with media portal. I have been having problems trying to do it.
I'm afraid the skin editor is a bit out of date nowadays. It's a great idea, but with all the updates tothe skin engine it becomes a real effort to keep working.

Mediaportal detects it just fine, however when it scans for channels in the 'autotune' screen the signal strengh is 0, the signal quality is 0. I do not see any picture at all.

Guessed that, if you have deleted the main team-mediaportal folders (program files\data files) and are not using TVE3 with mssql\mysql that should be sufficient.

do the log files always stop at the same place? Since you are using English as your language it's pretty strange. If you had a lesser used language then there wopuld be more chance of a fault in the strings file.
Also, with any of the newer versions, you also need .net v3, but since you are still on v.2.2 you should be ok.
