I am a newbie with Mediaportal (0.2.2). I run MP on XP MCE, and without much hassle I just press my MCE-remote to put MP to sleep/standby, and press again to wake it up (enabled USB-power on my main board in bios). This works great 100%, all the time.
After some googling I found out about Powerscheduler (shouldn't this be...

Don't know why is MP changing the native Windows suspend behavior
I really do not understand why the MP guys did those complicated things with the suspend issue, and so causing Windows not to handle standby properly. (Don't get me wrong, they generally do a great job).
Here are some facts, at least on my computer:
1. The native...

MCE Standby Tool (MST) could be a solution: it is designed to manage some parameters to make the PC standby/hibernate and wake up correctly but it has also the possibility to blank the screen during start-up or shutdown to avoid that any trace of Windows is visible.
The other possibility is, if you use the PC as a Mediaportal only...

My windows is configured to turn off monitor after 2 hours of usage. If i am watching TV using MP, my TV goes back. Pressing any keys on the remote control does not help.
Is there any way i can configure MP or hauppauge IR service so that remote control usage is treated as "user activity" by Windows so that windows does not go...

Ah right ok, see I use MP TVServer as a central recording place so I don't get multiple copies of the same recorded tv. So my server handles the TV cards, doles out streams to the various clients, handles the centralised recordings, movies etc. By adding a tuner to each VM you get stand alone TV's but each VM also requires the...

I tried tight-VNC, and this worked even worse than UVNC for me (both works great for remote Desktop, as long as you dont star Mediaportal...)
However as I mentioned above Salling clicker (Swedish company :-) www.salling.com solved all problems I had with remote control of my computer. And no, you dont need to have Vista on the...

As far as I understand it it's just a 2003 server box with some missing services + an additional service + a client frontend to call into this service.
The most exiting thing for me would probably be the headless backup and easily expandable data retention system (raid but not raid....will have to read more about that)...

It is based...
The initial problem was that I couldn't install the font into \Windows\Fonts like one could in XP even before any of the skin problems.
Some googling told me that it could be bypassed but by the time I found that out I reformatted again. I've gone through another reformat since then, trying XP Black Edition this time.
Now none...

FWIW on windows 10 I have qdvd.dll, and after installing MPC-HC and using directshow spy, it seemed to show it using what I believe to be a "normal" dvd navigator graph (but with its own video decoder for the mpeg2video decoding however, i.e. windows 10 has no built-in decoding filter for that). I also have other things installed...

To the best of my knowledge yes, though I may have some components that I didn't load in to windows 8.1. I only loaded the minimum it would let me load at install of 8.1 and have installed no extra features in to 8.1. AKA tried to keep it as unbloated as possible.

Any way to MP running with the 8.1 release preview? It doesn't run at all for me even in compatibility mode.
Some characters don't work.. Like the @ symbol (shift 2)... And some others .. Considering my login for win 8 is an email address.. It was quite annoying! Plus.. To my knowledge there's no other way to do an @.
India fixes this for some reason... Happen on both my win 8 installs.

In most cases Windows 2003 Server is much moore like XP Pro that it is like Winodws 2000. I can't see any reason why you'd run Windows 2003 as a front end MP client. Do you need active directory? how about a DNS or DHCP server? Either way if you are going to use the MCE keyboard and remote you need to get this update...
