anyway problem solved by reinstalling the plugin (just for good measure) and deleting the database rather than just emptying it.

I've been encoding blurays and dvds for years and know the way around it and it has nothing to do with not wanting to, there just should be a way to name them is all.
Mkvmerge and TSmuxer both have errors on all of them when appending the files and so does an avi joiner when the files are avi's. The ones I need to do it with are .mpg...

For example

Ah, the registry. Didn't even think of that. Turns out the only entry in there is just what I needed - the setting for the db file. I just changed that key back to TVSeriesDatabase4.db3 and that did the trick.

I actually do the same and came up with the following issue to do it even more automated: Issue 449 - mptvseries - Config - Auto delete previous episode - MP-TVSeries: plug-in for organizing TV shows in MediaPortal - Google Project Hosting
