Your instability problems can maybe be related to drivers, hardware or codecs.
I would suggest the following. Maybe one of the experts can help you.
1. Start the MPTestTool2.exe in your MP installation directory
2. Do Step 1 in the test tool

WebEPG import for tv server is not supported. And I agree that the xmltv2 plugin is very confusing. You need to uncheck Tvguide.lst and map all channels on the mapping tab before importing.

I took the step at adding my old recordings to the recordings table in MS SQL, despite knowing very little about db programming...
If you tune to a channel it always grabs epg for the whole transponder.
So if you have
- channel 1
- channel 2
- channel 3
all on the same transponder it doesn't matter to which channel you tune.
The epg info is not per program stream but one epg stream for the whole transponder.

It seems that MP is not always using the Codec settings in confuration!
Even though I configured PDVD as Video Codec, Graphedit showed Dscaler Codec, which was not configured at all and therefore showed no picture.

It's possible that MP is trying to compress the file in real time with a codec that the CPU isn't strong enough to handle - EG high quality DivX or something. This would explain the high usage and bad results.

I've tried with FTP, but from what I could understand, MediaPortal will copy the file via FTP then play it.. Which is not so great because you have to wait for the file to copy before you can see watch it. I made it faster by creating mappings on my server instead of using \\IPAddress\ShareName.
