sorry to resurrect this thread, however i'm still encountering this problem, exactly as described by kamrat. was there ever a fix that was settled for this?
turning off exclusive directX mode does fix this, however i'd gotten quite attached to that mode. :)

It's at the program logo point - IIRC exactly where the aspect signal would occur.
I know other people see this too.
I use the nvideo codec for the same reason - that it handles aspect ratio changes correctly. I'd always assumed the bug was specific to the nvidia codec...

The setting only determines if TV should start if you e.g. launch TV Guide. The behaviour was changed by mr_hipp some time ago...
In fact MP just remembers and uses the "last known" state.
This error is handled by MP internally and should not cause your error..
Do you also see this with current svn?

I guess my fix for the music cpu spikes should affect this, too.
The "catch-up" effect is some architectural problem and it can't be done much about it for the "old" engine..

Problem solved, talked to my provider. It seems that they had removed my access to the pay tv channels by "mistake".
Pretty bad error handling in MP though, if a "No Signal" occurs MP is unable to show the free channels.
