I wouldn't say brilliant to my tvtoday-solution because after all it's just a workaround as the z-tags don't work as they should... e.g. title of series contains the episode title which was previously saved as subtitle - this makes episode management almost impossible IMHO.

Ok, so I've added all the channels manually, finally found the logs under the ProgramData folder and it seems that webepg contacts the website (dagenstv.com) and writes the tvguide.xml file in the xmltv dir. Go to plugins and there should be one called WebEPG grabber.
Wrt the file TVGuide.xml not being written this may be caused by Webepg crashing before it has completed. Please check/post the log files in the logs directory.
