After being back from my vacation I now tried to compile and test MPExtended. Where to fix the bug is quite obvious, as suspected MPExtended only uses the first artist name to build the filenames for the album thumbs. To fix this is a no-brainer. But...
I downloaded MPExtended 0.6_release branch from Github, assuming this is the 'official' 0.6 beta release. It compiles and installs with no problems (using VS2012, some warnings from Wix), Movies and TVSeries work fine in iViewer. But specifically the music section does not work. When opening music section in iViewer just displays a small frozen update window in the upper left corner, but nothing then happens. There is neither any hint in the iViewer log nor the MPExtended Log what happens or goes wrong. I installed the official MPExt 0.6 beta release, then the music section in iViewer works fine. So there must be something broken on Github in the 0.6 release branch.

Can you give me a hint which branch I need to download so it works with iViewer? Anything else I need to do or change in the source of MPExtended?

Not sure I can help you if dieBagger didnt commit the last fixes when preparing the 0.6 beta release.

Looked today to the logs again and found the issue. There was still the old filename for the music db in the config (version 12 instead of 13). Now its working. I then fixed the issue with the filenames for the album thumbs in source code and now all covers display in iViewer. So I am happy now.
I will post this bug in the MPExt issue log so it will hopefully be fixed in the next MPExt release.

Great work! You can maybe do a pull request and see if any of the initial developers will add it.

OMG this app is insane, I just love it.!!! it would be so nice if I could pass commands to eventghost for power, volume up, down and maybe a few custom buttons for lighting scene controls (also controlled by eventghost).

So at the moment I have an X10 remote fully handled by eventghost, eventghost handles ALL, mediaportal, CEC controls for AMP, TV, ETC and lighting scenes. the vol up and vol down sends CEC commands, power button toggles on and off of all devices I have like a shift button setup so I can then use the number pad for light scenes.

Please oh please add integration for EG, also allow power and volume buttons to be CUSTOM as my wife keeps pushing the power button turning the PC off. (

Power buttons are actually custom in latest update, check settings in the app. One can select bewtween MPExt and WifiRemote actions and also WOL for all th buttons in power menu. There is also an advanced button there that give a menu of all available actions. Maybe you can use this only for power off?

We have discussed extension to other systems( had OpenHAB in mind mainly) but we havent decided yet if we will do this for the public version. Our own versions of MPiV handle custom systems and gear but its quite a lot of work to do this generic so it suits all needs. But I agree that it would be nice to send events to a custom system e.g. when changing activity, volume, custom buttons in power menu etc. Also a home automation page for lights and and another one for heating....

Thank you for the reply, I will take a look at the custom button options but I'm sure I looked here before and nothing seems to be that obvious that I could use. I do see that volume is seem by EG, but in increments from 1 to 100 to if I am feeling bored later I can create 100 tasks in event ghost to control volume. (might also see if there is an EG plugin to save me the time).

As for the Home automation, I think your views on keeping it open to various systems would be better for the community as I am sure we all run different systems, for example I run a ZWAVE VERA.
Event Ghost allows full interaction with the VERA via a plugin.

I guess for now I would be happy to have WIFIRemote or MPExt feeding its actions into EG so we can potentially use them and a few custom buttons (or maybe even the buttons on the power panel) this way I can control my scenes at least, heating and levels are not really my thing as I can program any scene for my requirements.

Not fully following you. Right now you can't get the volume that MPiV is sending so why would you handle the 0-100 increments now?

We actually already have a volume panel that only is plus and minus button for increasing/decreasing volume. Joost used it before he got an receiver with tcp/ip. We could maybe have that as an option when adding generic systems.

I know that @Shukuyen did some work in WifiRemote regarding plugin for receievers so e.g. volume could be sent to them instead of MediaPortal. Not sure how far he got.

I have noted your requests. Will see how much time I have to work on it.

Johanj, still unable to update to 1.1. Have removed and reinstalled many times and it just times out. Any chance these updates can be put to iTunes for those of us who are unable to update? This becoming very frustrating reading all the "WOW the new version is awesome" comments in the forum and not being able to see it for myself.

That is really not good I thought it was working for everyone since I haven't heard of any problems in a long time... I just reinstalled the app and upgraded went fast. Will think of this some more.
