I've the same problem. I use a mce trust rc-2400 remote. work fine with MP. I use Zoomplayer and Intelliremote as media player using zp's tcp command. but MP receive some commands.

Check your codec merit levels with a utility. HOW does WMP do on the same files? I had issue with MPV playing them in 4:3 mode, so I lowered the merit to 0 and WMP-11 now used NVidia PureVideo or anything I select via the MS Decoder tool. Also, I use AC3Filter for my audio.

Having not given up yet, I DID find Goose's codec guide (https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/codec_guide-t30191.html?t=30191&highlight=codec+guide). I went through and implemented all of that. WMV now works without resorting to EVR.
That's problems 1 & 2 solved.
Any advice on number 3 before I just re-encode?

That was written pre PowerDVD7, Must admit i changed over when i installed Vista and started having problems with the Nvidia codecs straight away.
Would recommend PDVD7 for video to anyone.
