I have nearly 150 GB of audio (almost 30k cuts, 3k albums).
The Media Portal concept is very attractive and flexible, but the sorts (by tags) are just too slow to be useful. What can I do to speed them up?

If you want to speed up your booting time then maybe you should try disabling un-needed services. But it's a bit of a trial and error process until you finally settle a compromise between stability & speed. The end results may be disappointing mind you.

You shouldn't need "My Keys" for that. Run the Configuration.exe and look under "General". There is an item called "Keyboard shortcuts" or "Keys" or something that lists all the keyboard shortcuts. "h" should put you back at the main menu or pressing "Escape" a few times

I think you would find those services either in Scheduled Tasks, or under the Services bit in Administrative Tools. Not sure, as I haven't had time to load Vista yet.

for more info on these type of issues, you can check the logs in the team mediaportal\mediaportal\logs directory.
