I've been using MP for a while but unfortunately I can't make newer versions work. The latest version that works...
I suggest that you check the frequencies that Mediaportal has recorded during the autoscan, against what those frequencies should actually be - my assumption is that the tuner you used to scan the channels has got some of the DVB-T frequencies wrong (this is a "known" MP bug) and your other tuner is not able to tune those incorrect...

Ok, I have sound now. It only came on after I changed the codec to mpeg multiplexer, restarted mediaportal and then changed them back to what I had before and then it suddenly worked.

mmm...MyTheatre discovers some of the channels -- but not all. If I try [say] tp44 on Astra 2D [10758 V] I don't find any channels. Yet boot into Linux using a Knoppix CD -- fireup Kaffeine and it finds all the channels.
So -- still some bizzare driver/windows issue. Still, the tip helps some. Thanks.

+ for upscaling you need raw processing power - totally independant from MediaPortal there are how-to's for ffdshow which will deliver upscaling superior to 500 USD DVD-Players. The drawback is that you'd need a multicore cpu for doing that. Maybe your P4 already offers hyperthreading which will help alot, too.
