indeed it does connect directly to the TV card and I can't get a universal remote to work with it :(

1. uninstall MediaPortal
2. delete MediaPortal directory
3. install MediaPortal 0.2.0.0 final and apply the latest stable patch and do not install a nightly svn build!
4. configure MediaPortal
5. use Blue2 or any other included skin.
6. do NOT install any 3rd party plugins
7. try it again

An update on this issue is that the distorted text seem to have dissapeared, allthough there is some graphics issues where all of a sudden the MP gets a white stripe in the middle of the screen. Seem to happen more often when text is scrolling (for example long file names of movies and auido-files).
Any tips?

Thanks for all the advice. It seems that upgrading my tuner card will be the most promising sollution. As I am quite happy with Hauppauge I think I will stay with that company. But, when changing channels in guide or when recording is about to start, I don't think it will blast properly as there are no remote control button presses...

Did u installed the Leadtek PVR application? That is an sw card so it needs the Leadtek mpeg2 encoder for work.

MP still uses the built in windows stream buffer engine. This does not support anything but MPEG2 so until the new TV engine comes, it wont be an option.
