That card you suggested will do fine. Regarding the cable, you can't buy one as far as I know. You will have to solder your own. It isn't hard at all but it can require some time trying to find the right settings for your TV.

checked the VMR-9 setting - it was set as you suggested - sorry was using VMR-9 not overlay as I had thought.
But then..... I had a look at the picture tuning in the nVidia graphics console and played with the brightness/contrast and other settings et voila!! All happy now :)

Can someone tell me why the CPU usage is very high when MP is in focus and drops down when someother application is in focus...
i've notice some of the nvidia video cards have HDTV decoders on them, which allows the HDTV video to be process on the video card instead of the CPU. so the question is if i had a HDTV tuner (which the feeds are processed by the CPU) supported by media portal will the video card help and decode the HDTV video?

A file is you're playing is not in the DB. And it looks like your files don't have valid Tags.
So seeing that you don't have too many files, i would untick thos option and delete musicdatabase4.db3...
