This sounds interesting. Is there any way to find out what type of menu a DVD uses? Maybe does the mediaportal log file tell sth about it?
Also if it is a problem with different menu types I would call this a bug. The built in dvd navigator should at least fully work when using the provided mpeg codecs.

See my specs on the left, it's a "standard" PC so no compatibility problem at all, the sempron EE it's really cool & quite and in my case its combined with a asus nvidia based board.
All the other components are passively cooled, power supply included.

When i record multiple episodes of the same show... it groups them into 'folders' these folders dont seem to sort based on date. On the files within the folders.
This is in the My Recordings Section, which is where i select most of my previously recorded shows.

Did you Download the 29Mb update (RU2) for MCE 2005 ?..
You can't install that on a regular XP SP2, you need to unpack it and install the KBs one by one. I believe it'll fail in one of them as that is MCE only..

FYI - I never actually resolved this. I ended up converting all the .BIN files to .AVI using VCD Gear. it took me about 2 hours of minimal interaction with my media centre so it may be the best way to get these to work.
