I'm with you, LOL.
First, i'm with MP almost since the beginning. But with all the changes done in the past, i'm also at loss with setting up the tv server. I mean how complicated could it be to set up the program to access on one side ATSC via a Dvico card, and having a second option with an external converter box connected via...

I did some searching and found all kinds of DirecTV related posts but it seems that all were with regard to how to record from DirecTV, control the reciever through the serial port, or trying to get the USB port control to work.
What I did not find and I think would be a handy feature is the ability to play the recordings which...

As the title says, is there a way to delay playback of a video file for say several seconds after it is selected? The reason I ask is because I am using the built in Refresh Rate Changer in Media Portal, and when it changes from 60hz to 24hz, there are a few seconds where the video is playing but there is no video/sound because the...

Hi,
robcarter, to make a good music collection better it has to be tagged correct & that work just have to be done, said that MPTagThat can help you with it, but in the end it's up to you (not all of your 8000 files have to be tagged with own AlbumArtist, just those album where different artists/band occurs like in Mixtapes etc, for...

Hi doveman :)
I looked up your deleted post and found it in the "MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC 1" sub forum. This sub forum was specifically created for issues with the just-released version.
Quote from the release notes:

Hi Great project and I just installed the newest RC
Maybe a dumb question, but I never started using the movie database functions.
I tried to use it but then I have to be in the configuration program?
Is it possibe to do automatic updates of the database while PM is running?
I use MP with shared folders on an other PC where I...

I did, but this does not apply.
I do not put my HTPC into standby, only the server.
When HTPC turns on, it wakes up the server with WOL. Problem is that TV does not always work and a restart of MP client is required ( only MP, not complete reboot ).
Anyway, the problem is solved by using 1.1.0 RC1 and MPTray. I was using...

I agree with you. In fact, I've got DVBViewer installed in my system so I can move my dish with it. If you have a "preferred" satellite you want to see and record channels of, you can configure MP as no diseqc system, and make a profit of its reliability. If you see usually channels for more than 1 satellite, then it's not a solution...

After reading this thread yesterday I actually went home and spent some time setting up and using WMC7. Compared to a completed and customised MediaPortal install it's horrible!

Hi :)
Most MediaPortal settings are inside mediaportal.xml.
Not sure about TVServer, but I suspect it is inside the SQL database.
Other files stored across various directories. Peek inside mediaportaldirs.xml for more information.

I think you did a great job of explaining what you meant. :) I just wanted to make sure people understand the difference between supported and recommended - because i have found that even reasonable, intelligent people sometimes don't understand its meaning. I blame that knowledge on working IT support in my younger years. :D

Have a look at XBMC (xbmc.org). It has a very clean interface and numerous options. I bounce between it and MP, depending on my mood. BTW, you can install MP without the TV functions.

I also had problems with DriveSpeed and Daemon Tools (and pretty much any program that works with discs/images), what I did was configure AnyDVD to start a batch file every time a disc is inserted, for all types of disks. The batch file starts DriveSpeed, waits a few seconds (2 is enough) for it to apply the speed to the drive, and...
