You can use the "My Programs" plugin (or derivate) to launch any application. Used to be a integrated plugin, but now it has to be downloaded separately.

you want watch/record satellite TV? you need a DVB-S or DVB-S2 (=HD capable) TV-Card. There are external ones with USB connection and internal ones for PCI slot. Are any of the other programmings running? They might be "holding" the tuner card to MP can't see it. I had the same problem, when i had beyond TV installed. Eventhough it weren't running. After uninstall MP could detect the tuner card. I know you can't uninstall WMC, but check if any of its process are running and if so terminate them.
