Hi Nick,
You should have a look at IR Server by And-81. This is a replacement for the builtin support for MCE remotes. I use IR Server to receive the commands from my MCE remote, handle som commands in MP, and blast others to my TV and/or my audio amp.
Have a look and let me know if you have any questions.

Can you tell us which tuner you are using, as there are great reception differences between the various card makes.
I take it you also mean Freeview (DVB-T), what really is your local transmitter, because if you are in a area of multiple reception, this may screw things up.

Just to add to rekenaar's post .......you could also use the 'switch view' and have your videos sorted by genre,title, year, etc....... using this method would give you the 'illusion' that you only have one 'folder' for movies but it can span multiple drives and directory's that you setup in the mp config.

i think my card has bda drivers - this driver was quoted on a site i went to (AF9015 BDA driver)... i downloaded this driver as i had lost my original installation disks. as stated earlier it all worked with Blaze HDTV.

Unfortunatly there's always scaling involved when using 720p on a 1366x768 screen. In most cases there's also a huge overscan. So image quality is really bad, especially for text (videos are a bit better). If you don't need hdcp I would recommend using the vga connector (or dvi) with a desktop resolution near your screen resolution...
