However, MediaPortal is designed to be run as a 'Front-End' for everything you do on your TV. In most cases, people do not use Windows "regularly" on their TV as well. At least that's the idea ;).

You can certainly stream music to MP clients, I was doing this last night in my kitchen, however I'm not sure about DVD's. I think DVD's only work locally on each clients' DVD drive, unless they are ripped to HDD and then these can be streamed like any other video file.

Maybe a bit more info needed to help, what tv card and windows operating system are you using, can you tune channels with tvserver etc, after that we need logs, see my signature how to get and post them.

I'm not sure what you aim to do. Manual Control is mainly used for testing and viewing TV-card status. There isn't really any settings to save there.
