Are there any issues with using a 64 bit processor? Will it improve any performance? From the faster ram maybe?

Thanks

mediaportal is not available as 64bit application yet
    reasons:

    1. to compile for 64bit you will need .net 2.0 which is still in beta stage. We'll wait until its released (hopefully this year)
    2. there are (almost) no 64bit drivers available for vga and tv-capture cards

64 bit processors such as AMD's Athlon64 work fine with MP on regular Windows XP (non x64 version).

And AMD 64 3000 performs significantly better than an AMD XP 3000.

My guess is that the 32bit version of MediaPortal will also run in Windows XP x64 without a problem, as the Athlon64 cpu can run 32bit programs natively within 64bit Windows (without performance loss).

This leaves us with the 64bit driver problem for many tv cards. Does anyone know which 32bit drivers happen to work within 64bit Windows? If Hauppauge drivers do, then I will definitely plan to make a 64bit based HTPC.

64bit MediaPortal would be great to complete the story, but for now 32bit MP will do just fine :).

Frodo, any plans on testing a 64bit MP before .Net 2.0 is officially released?

    just to update ppl

MediaPortal 0.2RC2 is compatible on Windows XP Pro x64 :)

smirnuff(who is no longer in team-mp) fixed that ...the code instead of using *any PCU* whilst compiling, now uses *x86*
...and as Windows xp pro x64 can emulate x86 code..it works a treat now :)

    enjoy :)

Got a reply from SD ... "Looks like your last successful download was on 5/23. On 5/24 for some reason we received 194 connections between 10:54 and 11:05 triggering a denial of service attack ban. The logs show it was lifted on 5/25, but I still see the entry in iptables. I reset fail2ban and hopefully you're working again." Weird...

4.5 is really old. I'm not sure 4.5.5 even is a version that actually existed. You should be able to install .NET Framework 4.8.0 on Windows 7 SP1
