Pause Prob

Thanks Taipan and Boilermaker for the help. When I get home I'll post the log file along with my description again as a new problem. Any suggestions as to where I should post it and under which heading?

I don't know how big the log file is but I'll try isolate the area of the file where the incident has happened. Failing which I'll just rebuild the machine with no extras at all and install MP 0.1.3. and try duplicate the error and post the whole log file.

Cheers

I suggest you post a new topic in the "Bugs" forum, under the subject heading that you already had - "Pause bug (major!)" - and remember to include the support template.

I've installed this skin and used elow's red background and gold coloured icons / graphics and wow, it looks and works great.
I'm using it on a 1280x768 LCD TV.

The only problem I have is with some wide screen broadcasts. These are in 2,35:1 format and they don't fill up the screen as they do when I watch them trough the tuner of my TV. If I say normal screen mode in MP I get a very small rectangular screen in the middle. All the other options have poor quality or aspect ratio is wrong.

I don't know if this is MP or because the skin is only 720 high and not 768.

I'm going to instaal the wintv program of hauppage to see how it looks when using that programm.

    wortelsoft,
Beyond placement of on screen displays, I dont believe there is much else the skin can influence in full screen television. If i'm wrong, hopefully a developer will see this response and correct me. The extra 48 pixels of resolution will stretch skin's graphics some, but i dont know how it would effect aspect ratio when watching tv. This is an issue you may want to post in the General Support Section. Unfortunatly my dlp tv is pretty much locked into 720p, so i can't really test the skin or MP at other resolutions in full screen mode.

1280x768 is 1,66:1 format - so if you display a 2,35:1 format image on that screen, then you would either have "black bands" on the top and bottom of the image (which is the correct way to view the wide-screen image), or you would not see the left and right hand sides of the image if you stretched it to fill the screen area.

The TV image aspect ratio is not affected by the skin you use, when MP is in full-screen mode. From my personal experience, when you select "Normal" in MP, it will display the TV image in the correct format on the display.

Maybe the odd results you are seeing are caused by the video filter you are using, or your video card's settings?

First of all you can't realy calculate the aspect ratio on the pixels, because the pixels of my tv are rectangular.
With the tv tuner in my tv I have the black bands on top and bottem of the screen. With mp in normal mode I have black bands on all sides.
I have tested it with hauppage wintv program this also doesn't show the corect size (bands on 4 sides).

when these channels transmit in 4:3 then evrything is fine. Full height is used with left and right black bands witch is good for a wide screen tv.

I will post a message on the dutch forum as this only happens for two belgium channels.

I'm convinced it has nthing to do with the skin, thanks for your help.

    wortelsoft,
sorry i wasnt of much help, but if it does turn out to be a skin issue, or if you find anything else that needs to be fixed, please let me know and i'll fix it as soon as possible.

I've also uploaded a cvs version of the skin to the ftp server, for those who are using cvs versions of mp. please keep in mind that the skin is even more beta than the usual cvs skin versions. I have yet to go over the OSDs, and the music and video overlays dont have all the graphics aligned yet. If (when) you encounter other errors, please post to this thread or pm me and let me know you are using the cvs version.

    thanks

Well the problem somehow solved itself. Don't know which setting did the trick though.
To sort out lipsync and performance problems I have played around a lot with the different display and sound settings to get it right on my humble system (only a 800MHz thunderdbird)

the pre-release has been out for only a few hours, i havent had a chance to download and install the new version yet....i'll make some time over the weekend to update the skin for the new release.

EDIT: The problem is with new images, not the xml itself. A temporary fix is to copy all of the images in the media directory from the original blue two skin added after 8/1/2005 (about 10 images or so) to the 1280x720 skin. Thats how i've got it working for now.

TV Server plugins are listed on this page, and "EPG Cleaner" can be downloaded from this page. Note: I don't know what bitness the plugin has. It might be 32-bit, or it might be "any cpu". The plugin is not listed by the "MP Extensions" tool, so I don't know whether it has been tested with the most-recent MP releases. -- from...

Ok, thanks much. I will look into the instructions above. For the moment, I turned off the "Automatic channel logo update" in Settings (which somehow I had missed, I think because it wasn't an option previously), and the deleted everything in the Flat-default folder and populated it with my own logos. Works, so far.
