I checked the MediaPortal.xml file and found that configuration wasn't saving a key there. I took a guess and manually added the following to the onlinevideos section:

<entry name="downloadDir">\\MYBOOKLIVE\TVShows\Manual Recordings\</entry>

and this worked. I can now download my live streams.

You may wish to check if your configuration dialog is actually creating/updating the key. If it is, then perhaps I need to do a reinstallation.

Nothing complicated about it, it's just bad design. I can't force you to change it though, I'll just have to explain to people who ask why it's so easy to wipe their selection that I tried to get it changed but couldn't get you to understand what was wrong with it.

To close this topic, we discussed this further yesterday in the ov irc channel and it looks like this entry will get removed since it's available with a better fitting name in the context menu anyways...

I think there is a check for a valid path, maybe not an UNC path. Also important is that you press OK when exiting MediaPortal Configuration as well, otherwise no changes are saved.

While we are on the subject can you please add a click event on the lanuage filter, Every time a coconut after I set the lanuage I click the button then have to move up to the refresh button. (wasted remote button clicks)

Yes, I made sure I pressed "Save" and then did saves all the way out of the MP Configuration app. As I mentioned previously, I also tried a number of different paths. For some reason there was no key in the xml file.

I may just have something strange in my installation. I'm a seasoned developer myself and have seen stranger things. I may just try uninstalling MP completely and start over.

Did you have a chance to look at my debug logs in post 322? The logs don't appear to show any issues with the parsing of the RTMP string, but I simply don't get the stream (always get the "no url" error). The link works everytime in XBMC, but I can't get the RTMP info to work in neither MP nor VLC. Could you perhaps give it a try and see if you can stream the Bloomberg link?

Sorry to be such a bother offbyone, but I'm a newbie to video streaming and to MP. Once I get over a few hurdles, hopefully I'll be able to contribute more to this great development.

I looked at the logs, they say the rtmp connection is established successfull, but the log looks strange, like no audio/video data is coming. Maybe it needs some other settings as well, I don't know.
I also just did change my download folder via the button right to the field, browsed for a folder on my HDD, selected it and pressed SAVE and after that OK. Reopening MP config show me the path I have selected. So not sure what goes on on your side.

Thanks for checking offbyone. I guess that maybe XBMC does some manipulation of the RTMP settings that I'm not aware of. I'll put XBMC in debug and see if its logs tell me anything.

That's interesting about the download folder. I also find that my changes are reflected in the field, but the key doesn't appear in MediaPortal.xml. I don't know where the setting is being saved, but I agree, it's being saved somewhere.

I guess this is just something to look out for down the road. At least for now I have a workaround.

I now removed the Full Update and the Refresh button from that hidden menu. Refresh will now automatically happen on the fly when you change the filter or sort option.
This also means: all other Skins must be updated when 1.2 is released.
