Solved - i inadvertently created a folder inside the thumbs folder for tv logos and mediaportal did not like this. It crashed pretty much immediately. Folder removed and problem solved

I think when watching recordings... your not using mouse or keyboard.. and computer tries to dimm display, but while watching recording or movie in full screen, mediaportal prevents windows to dimm display.. and when it stops watching, it let it dimm it..
