i believe it's the audio over hdmi thing, something wrong with the drivers. i have the same problem (nvidia too), first 2-3 seconds there's no sound on anything. the thing is that these up/down clicks are short, shorter than 2 secs.
try pressing the down key a bunch of times (or hold it) in menu and you'll see that the clicks are...

On my Vista PC I have a HDMI audio output which I've configured MP to use for videos and music.
I'd like to have the interface sounds (and presumably sounds from plugins) come out on the HDMI also but without changing the windows default from the speaker setup.

The watched setting turns video files orange from white when seen. I'm guessing this is done when a video file is ended beyond 75%...
What else you can try is:
Go to http://moviethumbnail.sourceforge.net/ and download the MTN from there. LINK to download!
Now put all .dll files + mtn.exe from the .rar file (with folders src & doc do nothing) to Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbnails and replace the existing files there.
Also make sure you have ticked...

The unable to play stream is a very generic message that can have any of a million different reasons. So benoit77, it would be best to log a Support thread along with your info (System specs) and some logs as per link in my footer. It is impossible to help without the needed info.

I did change the RecordedTV drive, but that wasn't the problem.
Ended up doing a complete uninstall/reinstall, and very happy to report that it's working now. Everything in my config is the same as it was before, so not exactly sure what the problem was, but glad that it's fixed now.
