I suggest the pack SAF (4 or 5), you can find it in the forum.
Remove all your installed codecs and install SAF, which containts everything you need for Mediaportal.

I just thought there could exist an application to stream more efficiently from a windows NAS to MP with a dedicated protocol rather than just having a SMB share which is not the most peformance efficient.

This could be the thumbnail creation process. It will go and scan all your pictures and make a small thumbnail on your disk for faster browsing in the future. Just leave it running until it is done and then it should "shut up".
You can also check the logs to be sure.

no, i dont copy the databases (the .db3 files) thumbs directory everytime i hadd something new, each client will just download its own data from the web. the watch flags will get synced from the websites to the clients.

Yep! I tried both of my TVs HDMI ports and my poor old card just has a DVI and VGA output. I will double check the ATI Catalyst settings, (or I should say quadruple check, I think I've been over them three times already!!) to be sure of the multiple display option. Thanks for the input!
