Okay, I've uninstalled all, do a fresh installation of MP1 and Haali Media Splitter. Now it works with all codecs :-)
Could someone tell me what Haali do and it's possibleto include such a function in MP to playing mp4 files without a third party addon?

Since my last post, it now wakes up for schedules, but for some reason 4 out of 5 times MP will hang on " Loading Window Plugins " screen.

IRDA is unlikely but certainly Consumer IR remotes can be used.
MCE remote is not Irda, so I suspect you're just mistaken with the terminology?
There are a couple of homebrew remote devices around that can start the PC, and a few more that can wake the PC from standby (MCE can do that).
Google will turn up more info for you.

Where are the shares being mapped from? If it is another windows PC, having the same log in details on each machine will sort this out (for example all my windows boxes have the same Administrator account with the same password so the windows networking assumes it is the same user and effectively auto logs in).
