Purevideo is a marketing label from nvidia combining the DVD playback codec with hardware (graphics card) acceleration for all kinds of video processing.

"Throwing away my money" and "pvr500mce" should NEVER be used in the same sentence together.
I've had my PVR500 for over a year now and it was the best decision I made with regards to buying a TV card. I really need to get my ass in gear and buy another one.
I can't confirm whether or not it works with Suspend as my HTPC runs 24/7.

Could some one do me a really big favour if you are using this case, measure the height available from the top of the IDE slot to the optical mounting area.

I completely agree that it's overkill, and 99% of the population would never use such a beast.
I still think it would be cool to put MP to the test in a similar situation and stick it to Snapstream to wipe the smug smile off their face! ;) (Not that I'm bitter against Snapstream or the lack of support I've received from them after...

I have 6600gt with fan (one of the first) and I am very happy with the S-video out. Very sharp and true in it's fidelity. You won't be able to use it for HDTV but you should be able to use VGA or DVI to hook up any modern flat HDTV.
My card is 128 Meg and I can still play Quake 4 with high resolution and good fps.

HTPC case fans are normally 60mm fans that make a lot of noice (since they need to spin much faster to be able to transport the hot air away).
Therefore it can be better to have a PSU with a silent fan that helps the case fans transport the hot air out of the case.
Bigger case fans are always better than small ones, since they...

But i think i agree with Marcusb and i will look for a full size board.
The case i will use will be temporary for now. And looking at the HTPC cases avaliable 90% can handle full size boards. As i may want to replace the OB sound at sometime i will need 3 PCI slots.
Thanks for the Ideas.

I think your CPU is not faulty. In my mind, the problems should be (by order):
1- you've wrote that you receive clearly only 3-4 channels, others are not watchable. It means that your quality reception could be poor, and it may cause some trouble when you try to record channel since the MPEG-2 bitrate isn't constant. Make a try...

nope to the season pass unfortunately.
The closest you can get is to tell MP to record every time the show is on and then only keep a certain number of episodes. It doesn't keep track of which ones have already been recorded though, so you will get duplicates if your station plays repeats two hours later or something similar.

Zalman are nice but they are too big for some setups. I have several machines with Thermaltake coolers and they have all been reliable and quiet.

Recording to MPEG2 using the hauppauge, you can then use the burner plugin to convert to Xvid. It handles this all inside MP so you dont need external programs so its not such a bad solution.
