Might head over to the local starbucks with my ipad and try controlling my US mediaportal through the interface. If it works well i might sell my Humax back in the UK and build another HTPC to record freesat and stream live stuff via slingbox

All this pain so the wife can watch her precious UK TV sheesh!

Hey so i purchased mpiv for the ipad and i LOVE IT!!! it does exactly what i want it to do and im really happy!

So far i've tried using it within my local network and everything works well.

The next step i'd like to try is controlling MP through an external network but i thought i'd get some guidance before i went any further. My ISP (comcast xfinity) dont giv static IP's so i presume my external IP will change. What are the best options for overcoming this issue? I am absolutely no expert in networking so if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. With my limited knowledge i believe a hostname could be used but i have no idea how to get one

can someone give me a hand please?

I use dyndns for this. Its not longer for free but Im not aware of good free alternatives.
http://dyn.com/dns/
Say that you create the address karl10247@dyndns.tv that point at your external ip. Enter this instead of the local ip in MPiV config for MPExt and WifiRemote. This should work directly after saving restarting the app.

Then you need to have a device on your network that update the address when the external ip changes. Normally most routers can do this, one enter the dyndns account credentials and it work automatically.

Ok i'll have a play around see what i can do and report back. FYI i googled www.noip.com still do free hosting so maybe i'll give them a go as part of my experiment

We still work on the update. Other things came inbetween and we have added stuff so it took longer than we initially thought. It will come but its hard to say when. Thanks for the patience

Hey Northcoders.
Following this quite promising application and testing the iViewer preview I bought it.
After a certain period of usage I am a bit - disappointed would be said way too much.

It is not that flexible and responsive as aMPdroid. Especially functions like volume Settings (aMPdroid allows volume change via hardware buttons), different views for music, videos and films, etc.

Quite a potential also is given in the music handling, e. g. more options in the music playlists in terms of streaming and remote playback. In my case the streaming player hangs or crashes almost after every track.

What is very good is the out-of-sight navigation, also the search.
For the near future I await what will be in with your announced update.

And to close with some honest word and less demanding: the app was definitely worth the money and I will follow up your every change and update. Thanks so far!

Thanks for your kind words and your remarks. We always try to learn from users experiences. And we will certainly take your comments seriously.
As Johan mentioned in a previous post we are still working on the next version.
I can tell you this though. Various views for music isn't yet on our list. Expect a nice feature for the home screen though.

im missing an answer to the question from "cabala" page 3
- All the covers of the films show the resolution 720p instead of 1080p
(in my opinion it shows always the same / wrong informations about the movie) is it just a picture/placeholder?

new issue:
in every point of view (movies) it shows a lot of unwatched movies which are already watched in moving pictures
how can i mark them as watched (feature request?)
