I guess I will try a clean MP install and see if that fixes the problem. If not I will switch to using an external movie player.

There seems to be a problem with latest versions of mediaportal (or tv engine) and 64 bit OS. Tv engine crashes everytime...
just to pre-empt your next question, in the MP configuration app, go to plug ins, find the TV plugin and then right click and remove the tick from enabled. People usually take some time to find that section :)

Solved it, when i choosed my components for XP i couldn't see any reason to add Windows Firewall, and
