When using windows media player 11 (outside media portal) it plays fine. So I am guessing it is a media portal problem.

Currently not.
If it is mostly movies and they are mostly correctly named, you can go into the Configuration / Movies / Database and have MP scan your 5 folders. It will lookup IMDB info and add movies to the database. Then inside MP you switch to Title View through the menu and you will see all movies that made it into the database.

On the sempron, the MPV Decoder Filter using Default Directsound worked perfectly. On new motherboard, this same setup starts out great, then over a period of about 45 seconds the sound starts to get out of sync and then eventually the sound stops all together.

it is mainly to do with the reflections of the coverart in my videos/my music. the cd/DVD surroundings already have that emedded into the jpg, but the flipy function adds a reflection of the individaul coverarts. It is just a cosmetic thing

yes, load MP configuration and click the general tab, look down to the bottom of the config window and you can change what window MP will auto open onto.

i have this error too, but i use the internal function from MP "Restart MediaPortal on resume".
Wake up from user, with keyboard, or on/off switch works.
Error only occurs when the PC is woke up fromthe TV-Server to record something.

For some reason AAC audio files won't play for me in MediaPortal, either by themselves or as a part of a video file. On the same PC...

What I really miss in mediaportal is a setting that allows to resume music playback at the last position when the htpc returns from hibernate-mode.
