I never had any problems like this with SP1 (or without). Then again, I've disabled windows firewall all together and using only third party firewall. There isn't much more on MPs way than firewalls, be sure to configure them to let MP use internet.

You will gain some functionality with TV3 and also the autodetect feature. I like it very much.
Others prefer the stability of TV2 even if it is lacking some good features.
Try TV3 and if you are not happy with it, try reverting to TV2.
