Found out that the noise on the CD input only is there when the Mediaportal crashes. If it is terminated correctly it will turnof or set the pinnacle card in an non noise mode. Hence the solution to the problem is to activate the CD input permanently...

TV usb cards stretch USB capabilities try and ensure they are inserted into 1-2 connectors, especially if you've got a full house, ie all or nearly all 6 - 8 connections in use. if that dont work try a powered USB Hub.

As MediaPortal uses WMP for Playback no known conflict. Advise uninstalling FFDSHOW and using specific codecs as in XVID, DIVX. PowerDVD, WinDVD and a must NVIDIA Purevideo.
Have solved lots of errors by NOT using FFDSHOW.

Turned out it was a combination of my TiVo outputting a weird signal so my DVD Recorder couldn't output it correctly through its SVideo output and the alternative being a converter connection being crap.
